Knitting men
The Knitting men collective it’s a group that began its activities on 2016 and has managed to capture the attention of local and international media thanks to its creative work with a clear purpose: to abolish stereotypes and gender roles, giving visibility to new masculinities through their interest in knitting.
Under the motto “Breaking with stereotypes turns us into a more tolerant and inclusive society,” they’ve done public interventions, talks and activities in Parque Forestal, Museo de Bellas Artes, the cerro San Cristóbal and GAM. In this places they develop workshops and activities to interest men in this technique.
“There’s a clear sense of why we want to knit in public spaces, we as a group are super interested in breaking gender stereotypes. This affects several disciplines that we believe should be practiced by everyone, without distinction.”
— Ricardo Higuera, member of the collective.
The communities that gather around GAM are autonomously organized and are in constant change, that’s why we don’t have their contacts.
We invite you to know then coming to our squares, specially on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Generally, they gather a great amount of floating audience in different spaces where they meet to dance and carry out diverse activities.
