La Mala Clase Theater Company has been in the creative search of processes related to youth and education for more than 11 years. Some of their projects are La Mala Clase (2009), La Chancha (2012), Historia de los Anfibios (2014), Leftraru (2014) and El Dylan (2017). In 2020 they were working in staging a co-production with GAM: the premiere of their latest show, El Nudo. This is a play written by Isidora Stevenson and Bosco Cayo that aims to continue researching about the awareness and gender discussions of Chilean adolescents, inviting audiences to question these gender stereotypes in education, and reframing Chilean education towards equality, respect and non-sexism practices.

On the occasion, they will reveal part of their creative process through a zoom reading of part of the project and will talk about the dimension of their work as creators, the challenges of facing a new creation in 2020 and the projections about this new play.

Review

A high school in La Union, South of Chile. The feminist movement has arrived, generating important changes, revolutionizing the relationships between the members of the educational community. Adults are worried, they must do something soon. A workshop on new masculinities and on feminist theories have tried to elucidate what happens between boys and girls. In the midst of this revolt, a group of veteran former students of the same high school will recall an old sexual abuse case and will seek in feminism, the justice that never came. All this will have an unexpected turn, when one of the students finds herself involved in the middle of this tangled knot.
